Allowing God to Lead

Becoming a mom in hindsight was the easy part. Being a mom who leads by God’s example is truly the journey of motherhood. A journey where I am equally grateful and challenged.
In my life, I have seen all kinds of parenting. I’ve seen the “good” and the “bad”. The sad reality is that although I have seen many “good” parents (and I believe most parents do really try), many Christian bible-reading church-going parents do not invite God into their parenting.  It’s almost as if its separate.  I’m sure some of you may not agree, but that has been my experience. And honestly, there were many times I left God out, or came to Him as a last resort. But that is changing…
As I live and experience life with my three J’s, I see how God’s hand has shaped their different little personalities and idiosyncrasies. I have been humbled when I had to admit I had no knowledge of how to do something I had not seen, which was parent kids with and through a Godly worldview. I had to allow God to show me how to do this. Let me give you a tip for progress as a parent who invites God into their parenting: Many of us get a revelation from God for our children but we just stay right there-at the revelation.  We are too nervous to move forward. I can totally understand this, been there many times.  I have known what God wanted me to do, but didn’t see how. Then, I hear God whisper to me ever so gently, “Go further…”. The fear, confusion, and even in some cases pain of the circumstances seemed overwhelming. Because of that small whisper, something rose up on the inside of me that made me scream, “I want more and better for my children!  And if this is the way, then I have to submit to the process!” Sometimes God doesn’t give you any guidelines to follow and boy how I oh so love guidelines! That’s when I cry out to the Lord and say, “I don’t know what I’m doing! Please help me with raising them the way you want me to. Show me how to individually touch them with what you gave me. I know they are each different, and it is not a one size fit all type a deal. Lord I need you!” And let me tell you, those are prayers God always answers.
Let me be clear, I did not come from a family that parented with Christlike qualities. They were good parentings, but the Chrisitan faith was not a filter they parented through. But God! Even though I didn’t have that context, God still gave me another chance to do things differently with my children. I still don’t have all the answers, nor will God ever give them to me. One thing I do know is that I can do things now I wouldn’t be able to do without Him because I invited Him in.
So parents, don’t get discouraged. Even if you’ve had great or not so great examples of Godly parenting, I want to encourage today to let you know that if God is your guide, and you surrender your parenting to Him, He will take you places and show you things that will directly impact the people He has assigned you too.  I can’t stress this enough! I know this to be true because of how He completely changed how I parent, and how I raise my children. have gifted us-our children. Take time to meditate on these scriptures today and stay intentional❤️

Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Galatians 6:9 Let is not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
